The Spyderco Tri-Angle Sharpmaker® is the sharpener I want to have with me at the end of the world!
I have been testing the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker®. It makes sharpening really easy and you can literally turn a good piece of steel into a cut throat razor. As well I was only thinking in terms of sharpening my knife collection. Once I got going with it I started sharpening everything: The lawnmower blades, potato peeler, scissors, chisels, virtually anything with a blade.
The beauty of the idea is it's simplicity. Like many people I have invested in the odd sharpening stone or sharpening file and I have had mediocre results. Sharper yes but not consistently and not without sometimes starting again. The problem with a flat sharpener is the sharpening angle. How do you keep a consistent 40 degree angle with a stone? Or 30 degree if you want a crazy sharp blade. Spyderco have fixed this with a simple method that is easily explained in the video and full instructions that comes in the kit. You can even choose your 30 or 40 degree angle.

The key to sharpening any cutting tool is removing the steel at the edge while maintaining a consistent angle between the blade and the stone. Spyderco’s Tri-Angle Sharpmaker takes the mystery out of this process and enables anyone to sharpen a knife effectively with just a few minutes practice. Its durable ABS plastic base contains keyed holes that accurately set the stones’ sharpening angles at a 30° (15° each side) or 40° (20° each side) for sharpening knives.
