Collection: 1095 Carbon Steel - Knife Blade Steel

1095 Steel is a basic form of carbon steel and has been used in the manufacture of knives for years.  1095 Steel tends to be used for thicker blades.   It has a carbon content of . 95% which serves to harden the steel and reduce the amount of wear.

Disadvantages of High Carbon Steel are it is hard to form and it is susceptible to rust and corrosion so the blade requires oiling and regular cleaning. Advantages are it is extremely hard.  Carbon steel is strong and shock resistant and ideal for a heavy blade.
